Tara N. Yankee
Graduate Student
Tara is a PhD candidate with a past history of working as a licensed engineer for a nuclear power company. She has training in the computational sciences from her degree in mechanical engineering. She decided to transfer her computational skills to the biomedical sciences and returned to school to obtain a degree in biomedical engineering where she studied feature selection methods for unsupervised learning algorithms for next-generation sequencing data. Her current research involves applying genome-wide techniques, bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq and ChIP-STARR-seq to better understand how perturbation of gene regulation during craniofacial development of humans and mice lead to congenital deformities such as cleft lip and palate.
